Mereka yang sudah menjalani 3x operasi sesar mau tidak mau harus bersedia disteril. Ini adalah standar medik di Indonesia guna menghindari hal-hal yang sangat membahayakan ibu maupun janinnya. Juga karena memang belum ada RS yang menyediakan teknologi mutakhir untuk melakukan operasi sesar keempat kalinya pada ibu yang sama.

Itulah mengapa, saat dilakukan tindakan sesar untuk ketiga kali, ibu biasanya ditawari untuk sekalian dioperasi steril. Lain cerita kalau ada alasan yang kuat, yaitu dari 3x sesar belum ada satu pun bayi yang hidup. Dalam kasus seperti ini, jika ibu hamil lagi, kondisinya harus diawasi dengan sangat ketat. Ada karakter komodo di serial petualangan Animal Mechanical, lho!!!

Dah 2 bulan ini serial petualangan dan action di Animal Mechanical produksi Halifax Film, a DHX Media Company di putar di Playhouse Disney. Action disini jangan dibayangkan gedebak-gedebuk seperti UltraMan, yang kata anak saya... gak keren. Jauh banget dari yang seperti itu...dijamin. Animal Mechanical ini adalah sebuah seri aksi / petualangan seri untuk preschoolers yang mengkombinasikan hal-hal yang menyenangkan antara truk raksasa dengan hewan mitos di dunia fantasi yang melaksanakan misi-misi keren. Kata-katanya juga santun dan pastinya ada muatan kerjasama. Mereka juga ada di pages-nya facebook, lho!!

Benang merahnya gini

Animal Mechanicals terdiri dari Rex (hijau), Unicorn (pink), Komodo (merah), Sasquatch (ungu) dan Mouse (kuning), tinggal dan bermain di tempat yang berbeda dengan yang lain: dunia warna-warni yang juga bisa berubah warna seperti mereka. Selalu ada sesuatu yang muncul, berubah bentuk dan sebagian besar adalah tantangan yang harus diselesaikan oleh Animal Mechanicals.

Dalam setiap petualangan, Animal Mechanicals mendapatkan misi baru dari Island Owl yang akan menampilkan gambar pictogram pada 'layar di wajahnya face'. Pada setiap petualangan ada bermacam tantangan kecil agar tercapai “Mission Accomplished.” Di setiap tantangan memerlukan beragam transformasi unik dari kemampuan masing-masing “Mechana”. The Animal Mechanicals (dan penonton) harus memutuskan siapa yang akan menghadapi setiap tantangan.

Komodonya itu, lho!!!

Terus kenapa saya begitu senang melihat karakter Komodo jadi salah satu karakter penting dari 5 karakter ? Secara, Komodo itu binatang purba yang adanya hanya di Indonesia tercinta, di Pulau Komodo. Satwa langka kebanggaan Indonesia, tuh!!

Sayangnya serial petualangan ini hanya bisa dinikmati oleh mereka yang ikutan Pay TV atau TV berbayar, parabola juga bisa, asal ada salah satu dari channel Playhouse Disney, CBC Televisi atau Discovery Kids. Padahal, ya...itu tadi, ada binatang khas Indonesia.

Facebook bikin aku males....

Duh, kok males banget ya...ngisi blog ini...Padahal dulu pas awal-awal...semangat sekali. Lagi seneng facebook-an, sih. Emang deh situ jejaring sosial yang satu ini top banget. Knapa kok bisa dikatakan top? Gimana gak top...smuanya ada disitu. Bisa bikin kecanduan segala, lho. Sampai-sampai ada beberapa korporasi atau perusahaan yang nge-block site ini di kantor mereka. Supaya karyawannya bisa tetep konsen ma kerjaan, alasannya. Jadi gak FB-an ajah. Chatting aja dah bikin repot, apalagi tambah yang satu ini. Ngurangin produktifitas....he..he..gitu kali ya.

Sosialita

Bisa nemuin teman-teman yang dulunya gak pernah ketemu karena tempat yang jauuuuh....atau emang lost contact. Ya teman-teman TK (bagi yang pernah TK..he..he..), SD, SMP, SMA.....teman kuliah apalagi. Jadi bisa sharing-sharing, lewat corat-coret di wall masing-masing. Trus kita juga bisa ngacak-ngacak wall atau friend list orang yang notabene dah jadi teman kita. Dari situ kita bisa nambah-nambah teman lagi.

Berapakah jarak aman antar kehamilan setelah sesar?

Jarak aman antarkehamilan yang disarankan adalah 2 tahun setelah sesar. Meski ini bukan angka mati karena terpulang kembali pada kondisi masing-masing ibu. Idealnya, sehabis menjalani operasi sesar, tunda kehamilan sampai luka operasi dan jahitannya benar-benar sembuh dan kuat.

Mengapa perlu ditunda?

Kehamilan selagi jahitan masih basah dan belum kuat dikhawatirkan membuatnya lepas, sehingga terjadi robekan rahim yang jauh lebih besar. Dan selanjutnya membahayakan ibu seiring dengan membesarnya perut. Selain itu, tenggang waktu 2 tahun ini juga dimaksudkan untuk memberi kesempatan pada organ-organ reproduksi maupun organ lainnya untuk beristirahat.

Bagaimana jika sudah terlanjur hamil?

Kalau memang sudah keburu hamil sebelum batas waktu tersebut, segeralah berkonsultasi secara intensif pada dokter kebidanan dan kandungan. Akan lebih baik bila yang didatangi adalah dokter yang dulu menangani operasi sesar ibu karena dialah yang tahu kondisi pasiennya. Bila ada tanda-tanda yang mencurigakan, seperti rasa nyeri yang sangat di bawah daerah sayatan atau di atas tulang kemaluan, jangan ragu untuk segera ke rumah sakit.

Saat usia kehamilan 36 minggu, jangan lupa mintalah dokter melakukan pengukuran biometri janin, letak plasenta, jumlah cairan ketuban dan tebal segmen bawah rahim. Pengukuran ini penting untuk mengetahui kapan operasi sesar harus dilakukan. Berbagai keluhan setelah operasi sesar memang acap terdengar; sering kebal (mati rasa), nyeri tulang belakang, atau nyeri di perut. Sebaiknya, jangan keburu panik karena semua keluhan tersebut pada dasarnya bisa diantisipasi dan diatasi. Tentu saja semua masalah mesti dikonsultasikan pada dokter kebidanan dan kandungan agar penanganannya tepat dan intensif. Apa saja sih keluhan yang sering muncul? Kita simak satu per satu.

Sakit di tulang belakang

Sehabis sesar ibu sering mengalami rasa sakit di bagian tulang belakang tempat dilakukan suntik sebelum operasi. Keluhan ini umumnya timbul ketika membungkukkan badan saat mengambil sesuatu atau mengangkat beban yang lumayan berat. Sumber rasa nyeri berada tepat pada bekas tusukan jarum suntik saat dilakukan bius lokal. Diduga karena pernah terjadi trauma di situ.

Sebagai tindakan awal, atasi dengan melakukan gerakan yang tidak terlalu mendadak atau berubah drastis. Saat mengambil benda kecil di lantai, contohnya. Sebaiknya ambil posisi jongkok dengan menekuk kaki dan hindari posisi membungkuk yang akan meningkatkan beban di tulang belakang. Sedapat mungkin, hindari pula mengangkat beban berat. Selain itu, lakukan olahraga yang tepat secara teratur agar kesehatan dan kebugaran tubuh senantiasa terjaga. Untuk penanganan lebih mendalam, sebaiknya lakukan konsultasi dengan dokter spesialis anestesi yang menangani pembiusan. Dokter akan memeriksa dan menganjurkan pengobatan sesuai dengan diagnosisnya. Pemeriksaan penunjang mungkin saja diperlukan, misalnya rontgen tulang belakang.

Rasa kebal atau kebas di bagian bekas sayatan

Keluhan lain sehabis sesar adalah rasa kebal di bagian atas bekas sayatan operasi. Ini wajar karena saraf di daerah tersebut boleh jadi ada yang terputus akibat sayatan saat operasi. Butuh waktu cukup lama, kira-kira 6-12 bulan, sampai serabut saraf tersebut menyambung kembali. Ibu-ibu yang mengalami lazimnya diminta bersabar menunggu serabut-serabut saraf menyambung kembali.

Nyeri dibekas jahitan

Banyak ibu yang mengeluhkan rasa nyeri di bekas jahitan sesar. Keluhan ini sebetulnya wajar karena tubuh tengah mengalami luka dan penyembuhannya tidak bisa sempurna 100%, apalagi jika luka tersebut tergolong panjang dan dalam. Ingat, dalam operasi sesar ada 7 lapisan perut yang harus disayat. Sementara saat proses penutupan luka, 7 lapisan tersebut dijahit satu demi satu menggunakan beberapa macam benang jahit. Sayangnya, dalam proses penyembuhan tak bisa dihindari terjadinya pembentukan jaringan parut. Jaringan parut inilah yang dapat menyebabkan nyeri saat melakukan aktivitas tertentu. Begitu juga aktivitas yang berlebihan maupun penekanan di bagian tersebut.

Nah, untuk meminimalkan keluhan yang satu ini mau tidak mau tinggalkan dulu aktivitas yang berlebihan, apalagi dengan gerakan yang terlalu cepat. Pilihlah aktivitas ringan yang tidak terlalu memberatkan. Jangan pula menekan daerah jahitan tersebut, baik sengaja maupun tidak, atau berjongkok secara tiba-tiba sampai bagian bekas jahitan sesar benar-benar kering dan kuat.

Keloid di bekas sayatan

Selama masa penyembuhan luka operasi sesar, banyak ibu yang gundah karena perutnya tak lagi mulus. Apalagi jika di bekas jahitan tersebut muncul benjolan memanjang yang disebut keloid. Keloid sering muncul pada bekas luka, termasuk luka akibat operasi sesar, sebagai reaksi tubuh yang berlebihan dalam proses penyembuhan luka.

Munculnya keloid pada bekas sayatan operasi sesar biasanya disebabkan oleh:

paparan cairan ketuban yang mengandung faktor pertumbuhan sel
jenis benang jahit yang dipakai
teknik menjahit yang digunakan
bakat seseorang dalam reaksi jaringan

Sebenarnya ada beberapa cara yang bisa dilakukan untuk meminimalkan munculnya keloid. Antara lain, dokter harus melakukan teknik menjahit yang baik, memilih benang jahit yang tidak iritatif, dan memberikan obat antikeloid. Usai operasi, ibulah yang harus benar-benar menjaga agar luka bekas operasi sesar tidak mengalami iritasi, infeksi, atau malah terbuka yang dapat merangsang terjadinya keloid. Memang ada operasi untuk mengangkat keloid, tapi upaya ini toh belum dapat mencegah berulangnya keloid.

Gatal di bekas jahitan

Rasa gatal di bekas jahitan sangat mengganggu dan mendorong ibu untuk menggaruknya. Urungkan niat itu karena dikhawatirkan jahitan akan terbuka dan berdampak lebih parah. Sebenarnya, rasa gatal bisa timbul akibat adanya infeksi pada daerah luka operasi seperti infeksi jamur atau karena reaksi penyembuhan luka yang berlebihan.

Bila penyebabnya infeksi biasanya akan tampak tanda radang di daerah jahitan. Ditandai dengan kulit yang berwarna kemerahan, ada luka, ada cairan yang keluar, terasa panas, dan terasa nyeri bila ditekan. Berbeda bila disebabkan karena reaksi kulit yang berlebihan; kulit di daerah jahitan menebal dan mengeras serta menonjol dibanding permukaan kulit lainnya. Inilah yang disebut keloid.

Bila keluhannya ringan, ibu masih bisa bertahan untuk tidak menggaruk. Hindari makanan atau zat tertentu yang memang dapat menyebabkan alergi berbentuk gatal di kulit. Yang tak kalah penting, hindari pemakaian celana dalam ketat yang akan menimbulkan gesekan pada bekas jahitan secara berulang kali. Atasi rasa gatal dengan menggunakan salep antigatal atau antikeloid. Namun untuk menilai sejauh mana efektivitasnya, konsultasikan dokter kebidanan dan kandungan.

Tak bisa lagi melahirkan normal

Banyak wanita yang merasa tidak sempurna jika tidak pernah menjalani persalinan normal. Oleh sebab itu, informasi yang mengatakan operasi sesar akan menutup kesempatan melahirkan normal di kehamilan berikutnya acapkali membuat ibu gundah. Jangan khawatir, Bu. Melahirkan sesar ataupun normal bukan acuan seorang wanita dikatakan sempurna. Karena setiap proses persalinan adalah suatu pengorbanan terbesar dari seorang ibu. Kesehatan dan keselamatan ibu dan bayinya lah yang harus diutamakan. Apalah arti 'kesempurnaan', jika nyawa dan kesehatan ibu dan bayinya yang jadi taruhan.

Untuk kasus-kasus tertentu, ibu yang pernah bersalin dengan cara sesar dianjurkan untuk kembali disesar pada persalinan berikutnya. Akan tetapi bila sesar sebelumnya bukan atas indikasi menetap seperti panggul sempit atau abnormal, berikutnya ibu boleh-boleh saja melahirkan normal. Tentu saja asalkan segala persyaratan terpenuhi, di antaranya kehamilan berikut terjadi setelah sesar lewat 1 tahun atau setelah anak sebelumnya berumur 18 bulan, kondisi jahitan aman, dan tidak ada komplikasi pada jahitan. Agar bisa melahirkan normal, sebaiknya ibu mengikuti anjuran dokter.

Tak boleh berolahraga

Karena kondisi perut yang lemah akibat sayatan, banyak ibu percaya kalau mereka tidak boleh berolahraga selamanya. Sebenarnya, olahraga boleh dilakukan asalkan secara bertahap. Contohnya, setelah lewat 40 hari lakukan senam ringan atau jalan santai. Tiga bulan kemudian lakukan senam atau jalan santai dengan intensitas waktu yang lebih lama. Namun sebelum berolahraga sebaiknya konsultasikan lebih dulu pada dokter apakah gerakan-gerakan olahraga yang akan ditekuni benar-benar aman atau tidak, dan kapa boleh dilakukan.

Jahitan terbuka

Jahitan terbuka sering dialami ibu pascasesar. Biasanya akan diikuti dengan keluarnya cairan sehingga luka terlihat basah, berwarna kemerahan, berdarah, serta muncul rasa nyeri dan gatal. Kemungkinan lain, akan terjadi perdarahan bercak bila rahim berkontraksi berlebihan.

Terbukanya jahitan sesar memang bisa saja terjadi dengan aneka penyebab. Di antaranya teknik jahit yang kurang baik, kualitas benang jahit, atau akibat kesalahan ibu sendiri. Itulah mengapa, dokter yang melakukan jahitan sesar harus memahami betul teknik menjahit dan benang jahit yang benar-benar berkualitas. Ibu juga diminta untuk tidak melakukan gerakan-gerakan berlebihan dan cepat, mengedan terlalu kuat, apalagi mengangkat beban berat. Mengapa? Tak lain karena dalam tiga bulan pertama setelah sesar, luka dinding rahim belum sembuh benar sehingga bisa saja terbuka.

Minggu lalu, saya ber-sms ria sama sodara. Diantara sms-sms itu, dia meminta saya untuk mengunjungi site-nya. Lagi belajar nge-Blog, katanya. Iseng, saya kunjungi sitenya....wah, rame. Komentar per artikelnya banyak, skitar 20an. Lumayan juga untuk pemula. Itu merujuk dari sms-nya yang katanya 'belajar' dan blognya itu di upload mulai maret 2008. Atau mungkin dia merendah ya??Emh, bisa jadi.

Diluar itu, saya jadi inget blog saya yang sudah saya tinggal cukup lama. Jadi kangen dan pingin ngisi lagi. Thank's buat sodara saya tadi, yang secara gak sengaja membangkitkan semangat saya untuk nge-blog lageee.

Stop beli melamin murah!! Bahaya..... kanker, lho!!

(Masih seneng beli melamin murah?? Sebaiknya baca yang ini dulu, deh. Bahasan berikut ini penting banget. Apalagi saat ini kita bener-bener di dunia plastik atau melamin apalagi melamin murah serbuan dari Cina. Makanya sengaja copas dari sitenya Depkes Indonesia.)

Saat diperkenalkan di Indonesia pada 1970-an, perlengkapan makan dari bahan melamin segera memikat konsumen. Ringan dan tak mudah pecah. Praktis dibawa piknik pula.

Namun, penelitian YLKI mengingatkan kita untuk lebih cermat dan bijak. Sebab, ada yang berharga murah tapi terbuat dari bahan yang membahayakan kesehatan.

Bagaimana tidak tergiur pada perlengkapan makan berbahan melamin kalau harganya sangat murah? Bayangkan, produk melamin dari segala jenis dan ukuran hanya dihargai Rp 10.000,- untuk 3-4 buah. Bahkan di sejumlah hypermarket dan pusat grosir ditawarkan kiloan dengan patokan sekitar Rp 25.000,-/kg. Sebaliknya, melamin lokal (bermerek Golden Dragon, Hoover, Onyx, Vanda) berupa sendok, gelas, cangkir, piring, pinggan sampai mangkuk besar kisaran harganya Rp 2.000,- --- Rp 40.000,-.

Tak heran jika produk melamin murah itu makin mudah dijumpai dalam keseharian. Penjaja bakso, warung makan, sampai usaha jasa boga beranggaran rendah dengan senang hati mulai mengganti perangkat makan dari beling dan gelas dengan perlengkapan yang mengurangi risiko rugi karena pecah ini. Produsen makanan siap saji dari kacang kulit sampai biskuit bubur bayi pun menyertakan perlengkapan makan dari melamin murah itu dalam kemasan sebagai hadiah, pemikat calon pembeli.

Namun, uji produk melamin yang dilakukan Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia (YLKI) bekerja sama dengan jurusan Kimia FMIPA, Universitas Indonesia terhadap 10 jenis merek (empat lokal, enam impor) menunjukkan, tak semuanya memenuhi food grade. Artinya, ada di antara produk-produk tadi yang mengandung zat berbahaya atau beracun dan bisa berpindah ke makanan akibat proses pengolahan makanan. Misalnya, dipakai untuk menyimpan sayur panas.

Pencetus kanker

Zat berbahaya itu formaldehid namanya. Dalam kadar tinggi bahan ini akan berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan.

Berdasarkan acuan kesehatan di Inggris, paparan maksimumnya 2 ppm atau 2 mg/l. Sedangkan Amerika Serikat (AS) menetapkan paparan maksimum untuk jangka panjang 1 ppm dan jangka pendek 2 ppm.

Penelitian laboratorium selama dua tahun oleh Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology yang dimulal tahun 1979 menunjukkan, kontak dengan formaldehid menyebabkan kanker hidung pada tikus. Penelitian ini didukung oleh 36 perusahaan kimia di AS. Tahun 1987 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) AS menggolongkan formaldehid sebagai zat yang mungkin memicu kanker.

Beberapa penelitian juga membuktikan, pekerja yang terpapar formaldehid berisiko terserang kanker lebih besar beberapa kali, apalagi jika berlangsung terus-menerus. AS kemudian secara tegas menyatakan, formaldehid sebagai pencetus kanker bagi manusia. Uap formaldehid memicu radang pada mata (perih), hidung, saluran pernapasan atas, batuk, bronkitis, pneumonia, dan asma.

Kulit yang terpapar formaldehid akan perih dan kemerahan seperti terbakar. Bila air yang terkontaminasi formaldehid terhirup atau tertelan akan menyebabkan sakit mendalam, luka bernanah, dan pembusukan pada selaput lendir tubuh (misalnya pada pipi bagian dalam dan bibir). Gejala keracunan dapat ditandai dengan muntah-muntah, pusing, dan hilang kesadaran. Kematian bisa terjadi bila formaldehid terminum sampai kadar 30 mg/l.

Pertanyaannya, dari mana datangnya formaldehid ?

Untuk menjawabnya mari kita tengok ke belakang ketika pada 1907 ahli kimia Belgia, Leo Hendrik Baekeland, menemukan plastik buatan (sintetis) pertama yang disebut bakelite. Inilah cikal bakal melamin yang awalnya digunakan sebagai bahan dasar pesawat telepon generasi pertama.

Kemudian senyawa ini dikembangkan dan diterapkan untuk industri perlengkapan rumah tangga, termasuk perangkat makan.

Pada 1930 - 1940-an, perusahaan-perusahaan di AS macam Cyanamid, Ciba, dan Henkel mengembangkan senyawa ini untuk industri tekstil sebagai bahan pengisi dan perekat. Keunggulannya berupa kejernihan, stabil terhadap panas, cahaya, bahan kimia, goresan, bahkan api !

Faktor inilah yang membuat melamin formaldehid makin luas digunakan pada tahun-tahun awal pasca-Perang Dunia 11. Antara lain digunakan pada industri kayu lapis untuk memperkuat dan mempercantik produk-produknya.

Lokal asli

Jadi, memang dari sononya formaldehid sudah nebeng di melamin. Menurut Bambang Ariwahjoedi, pengajar pada FMIPA ITB, melamin merupakan persenyawaan (polimerisasi) kimia antara monomer formaldehid dan monomer fenol. Bila kedua senyawa bergabung, sifat racun formaldehid akan hilang karena terlebur menjadi satu senyawa, yaitu melamin.

Formaldehid dalam senyawa melamin dapat muncul kembali karena depolimerisasi. Akibat proses ini, formaldehid terlepas menjadi monomer yang bersifat racun. Pemicunya bisa berupa paparan panas, sinar ultraviolet, gesekan, dan tergerusnya permukaan melamin hingga partikel formaldehid terlepas.

Meski tahan di rentang suhu 120 derajat celcius sampai 30�C di bawah nol, tapi karena menyerap panas, melamin tak tahan dipapar panas terlalu tinggi. Apalagi terpapar dalam jangka waktu lama. Oleh sebab itu melamin tak bisa digunakan dalam microwave.

Persoalan lain, dalam persenyawaan yang kurang sempurna dapat terjadi residu. Sisa formaldehid dan fenol yang tak bersenyawa itu akan terjebak dalam materi melamin. Formaldehid yang terjebak inilah yang bisa mengancam kesehatan bila masuk ke tubuh manusia.

Dari uji produk melamin, melamin lokal dan impor dari Cina mempunyai senyawa berbeda. Melamin lokal terbuat dari melamin asli, sementara yang impor terbuat dari bahan bukan melamin, salah satunya urea formaldehid. Kedua senyawa ini dibentuk oleh reaksi polimerisasi yang menghasilkan fenol.

Senyawa melamin dan urea berasal dan hasil reaksi formaldehid dengan senyawa amino yang mengandung kelompok senyawa NH2. Susunan kimianya sangat berbeda. Melamin punya struktur rantai lingkaran sehingga lebih stabil. Ikatan kimia urea formaldehid berupa rantai lurus, makanya pelepasan formaldehid lebih mudah. Urea formaldehid hanya tahan sampai suhu 62 derajat celcius hingga lebih mudah pecah atau berubah bentuk pada perlakuan suhu ekstrem. Urea yang dipanaskan akan menghasilkan formaldehid yang kadar pencemarnya tergantung pada seberapa kuat ikatan bahannya serta tingkat proses yang dijalankan produsen.

Untuk menguji kadar formaldehid pada beberapa produk berbahan melamin, YLKI melakukan dengan beberapa cara.

Pertama, uji rebus. Produk melamin direbus dalam 2 l air selama 30 menit dalam panci tertutup berlubang kecil untuk menghindari tekanan. Ini untuk memperbandingkan dengan kebiasaan konsumen menggunakan wadah itu bagi air mendidih, misalnya menyeduh teh, kopi, atau sebagai wadah bakso kuah dan sup panas yang biasa disantap selama 15 - 30 menit. Juga untuk menguji penggunaan berulang dengan air mendidih.

Kedua, uji kadar formaldehid dengan Pharmacopoeia Standard (Baku Mutu Farmakop). Hasilnya, seperti yang terungkap dalam Warta Konsumen, September 2004, enam merek melamin impor Cina ternyata berkadar formaldehid tinggi, 4,76 - 9,22 mg/l. Sementara merek lokal (Onyx, Golden Dragon, Vanda, Hoover) berkadar kurang dan 0,05 mg/l.

Safe yang tidak aman

Dari pengujian pula, YLKI mewanti-wanti untuk hati-hati dengan melamin impor dari Cina yang mencantumkan label aman.

Misalnya, pada mug bertutup merek W Melamin CH 13 tercantum label heat safe. Saat diuji di laboratorium, hasilnya ternyata bertolak belakang.

Hal semacam ini bisa menyesatkan konsumen yang mempunyai bayi dan biasa menyucihamakan wadah makanan bayi dengan cara direbus. Maunya aman, tapi justru berbahaya. Kandungan formaldehid dari mug yang direbus 30 menit ini sangat tinggi (8,82 mg/l).

Agar tak waswas, kita bisa melakukan uji sederhana untuk memastikan apakah perangkat makan melamin kita asli atau tak memenuhi food grade.

Pertama, uji bakar sederhana. Bakarlah ujung melamin dengan lilin selama 20 detik. Jika tercium gas formaldehid yang menyengat, berarti tidak memenuhi food grade. Pada melamin asli hanya tampak gosong tanpa bau formaldehid.

Kedua, uji rebus selama 30 menit sampai satu jam. Melamin palsu (dalam hal ini impor dari Cina) akan berubah bentuk, meliuk, bahkan rapuh dan mencair. Uap rebusannya pun menyebabkan mata perih, batuk, dan mual.

Walau sekilas sama, secara fisik kita bisa membedakan melamin asli dan palsu. Melamin asli lebih tebal dan berat dibandingkan dengan melamin palsu yang lebih terkesan sebagai plastik. Bila sesama melamin asli dibenturkan, bunyi yang terdengar akan lebih "tebal" dibandingkan dengan pembenturan antarmelamin palsu. Permukaan melamin asli lebih licin dan berkilau, sedangkan yang palsu mudah ternoda oleh pangan berwarna (misalnya, teh atau kopi) hingga warnanya lebih gelap. Walau lama-kelamaan akan kusam juga, melamin asli lebih stabil ketimbang yang palsu.

Dengan perlakuan dan perawatan benar, perlengkapan makan melamin bisa layak digunakan 6 - 10 tahun. �Ini laporan dari salah satu konsumen,� tutur Dedi Cahyadi, asisten manajer Research and Development Onyx Design yang mulai berproduksi sejak 1988.

Agar perlengkapan melamin awet, cucilah segera setelah dipakai. Tak masalah apakah menggunakan pembersih sabun cair atau sabun colek. Yang penting, jangan digosok kasar. Gunakan spons halus dan hindari penggunaan sabut kelapa, abu gosok, apalagi bahan penggosok dari logam yang mulai ditawarkan di pasaran.

Kapan sebaiknya peralatan makanan dari melamin ini diafkir ?

Perhatikan permukaannya. Bila mulai banyak ternoda, berubah warna karena pengaruh atau minuman makanan macam teh, kopi, makanan asam yang lebih mudah terserap, juga bila mulai kusam dan tergores-gores, sebaiknya pensiunkan saja. Selain mempertimbangkan keamanan bagi kesehatan, tentu tak elok lagi dipandang. Selera makan mungkin ikut berkurang. Bekas peralatan makan kita ini masih bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai tatakan pot, misalnya. *

Kesakitan di pagi buta

Suatu pagi yang masih gelap, pertengahan November lalu, Atha mendadak menjerit kesakitan. Bunda sempat shock dan bingung juga sih.Soalnya kondisi lagi separuh separuh, separuh bangun separuh tidur. Belum wake up benar. Setelah semua aman terkendali barulah kami (Bunda dan Ayah, red) tahu permasalahannya. Hutunya, maaf, Atha sakit waktu mau pipis. Mungkin saat menegang terhalang pempers. Jadi agak sakit. Sampai sekarang Atha memang masih pakai pempers kalo bobok.

Dua hari berikutnya Atha masih mengeluh sakit meski semakin hari semakin berkurang. Pas hari ketiga setelah insiden di pagi buta itu, Atha sudah tidak mengeluh hutu-nya sakit. Tapi sakitnya itu pindah ke perut bagian bawah, pas di garis bikini.

Ya Allah, kenapa ini??? Kami langsung bersiap dengan scenario terburuk. Kalau bukan gak hernia mungkin ya harus dikhitan. Atha memang ada permasalahan dengan hutu-nya itu. Pertama, kepala hutu tidak bisa keluar bila kulit jangatnya ditarik. Jadi daerah itu sama sekali tidak biasa dibersihkan. Kedua, dulu waktu bayi, scrotum yang sebelah kanan sempat lebih besar dari yang kiri.

Kami langsung berencana ke dokter spa. Sekaligus sms ke oma opa, ngabari kalau Atha kemungkinan besar khitan dalam waktu dekat. Untuk Eyangnya, Ayah menunggu hasil pemeriksaan dokter dulu.

Saran dari Dokter Spesialis Anak

Kami lupa tanggal berapa Atha dibawa ke dokter spa. Seingatnya, hari kamis malam. Dokter langsung menyarankan untuk dikhitan. Waktunya terserah kami, semakin cepat semakin baik. Karena Atha dulu pernah terkena ISK (Infeksi Saluran Kencing) dan sekarang berulang. Kalau sering berulang, dikhawatirkan bakterinya akan terus keatas, ke saluran kencing bahkan sampai ke ginjal.

Kendala untuk khitan sekarang

Sebenernya, beberapa keponakan Bunda sudah khitan saat masih balita. Bahkan beberapa hari lagi, tanggal 28 November ini, ada keponakan yang khitan karena bermasalah seperti Atha. Dan mereka semua baik-baik saja, tidak berbeda dengan anak yang khitan saat menjelang pubertas. Tapi tetep saja pas Atha yang mau khitan, sekeluarga bingung.

Opa-Omanya kasihan kalau Atha dikhitan sekarang. Usianya tanggung, takutnya belum bisa mengontrol emosi. Khawatir pas dikhitan dia akan berontak dan membahayakan dirinya.

Sama, sih. Kami juga merasa usianya tanggung. Bayi enggak, ABG enggak. Sempat juga kami berandai andai. Kalau tahu harus khitan secepatnya, mending waktu bayi. Prosesnya tinggal kres-kres. Tidak perlu negosiasi dengan si Anak, karena memang belum tau apa2. Merawat pasca khitannya juga lebih mudah. Tapi ya, mau bagaimana lagi. Sekarang memeng kondisinya seperti ini. Dan penyelesaiannya ya harus dikhitan. Kami juga tidak tega, tapi lebih tidak tega lagi kalau sampai ginjalnya yang kena gara-gara telat melakukan penanganan.

Oke, lah. Masalah urgency khitannya Atha, semua sudah satu suara. Atha memang harus cepat-cepat dikhitan. Tanggal khitan juga sudah ditentukan 30 Desember.Tapi bius lokal apa bius total?? Sempat ada friksi lagi. Kalau bius lokal, takutnya Atha berontak dan teriak-teriak. Tapi kalau bius total, takutnya nanti dia alergi bius dan jadi gak bangun-bangun alias koma seperti artis Sukma Ayu.

Alhasil, kami tetep cari info sana sini sebagai bahan pertimbangan untuk menentukan Atha pakai bius lokal atau total. Kami tanya tetangga ataupun saudara yang anaknya sudah dikhitan, atau bahkan berkasus seperti Atha.

Rencana khitan dipercepat

Akhir bulan November, di suatu siang.

“Bunda, perutnya Abang kok sakit ya?” keluh Atha. Dengan harap-harap cemas Bunda bertanya,” Mau pug kali, Bang? Yang sakit yang mana?”

“Yang sini,” jawab Atha sambil menekan-nekan perut bagian bawah, pas di garis bikini. Wah, khitannya tidak bisa terlalu lama ditunda demi hari baik. Akhirnya kami berunding lagi dengan para sesepuh..:) Ada beberapa opsi, tanggal 20 atau tanggal 25. Walah, kok semua pas libur hari raya keagamaan, ya? Yang satu Idl Adha, yang satu Natal. Alhasil didapat tanggal 15 sebagai jalan tengah.

Kami putuskan juga Atha khitan di rumah. Khitan laser/couter, bius lokal, ditangani Pak Agung, Mantri yang kebetulan juga pernah mengkhitan bayi tetangga kami. Beliau paramedic UGD di RSI Siti Hajar. Hasilnya bagus, orangnya ramah, biayanya sekitar Rp 350 ribu. Itu sudah sekalian obat dan visit sekali pada hari ketiga setelah khitan.

Jauh beda biayanya sama khitan dengan bius total. Minimal 1,5 jt, bahkan bisa sampai 8 jt segala. Soalnya pakai acara nyewa ruang operasi, yang menangani juga dokter spesialis bedah dan anastesi. Belum lagi harus opname setidaknya sehari.

Sebenarnya ada juga dokter yang spesialisasi khitan laser/couter.Biayanya Rp450 ribu tidak jauh dari rumah. Tapi harus dating ke tempat prakteknya. Pertimbangan kami kalau khitannya di rumah mungkin Atha jadi lebih comfort. Tidak perlu maksa-maksa turun dari mobil untuk masuk ke ruang praktek.

Seminggu sebelum hari H

Seminggu sebelum harinya, kami sudah deal dengan Pak Agung untuk datang jam 7 pagi. Bunda juga sudah pesan kambing aqiqah yang sekalian dimasak sate gule untuk pengajian H-1 nya. Harapannya supaya besok pas proses khitanan bisa lancar sekalian juga aqiqahnya Shifa. Ribetnya juga sekalian.

Anak rekan saya mengidap penyakit ini. Makanya saya jadi penasaran dengan si Thalasemia yang katanya mematikan. Ya manusianya, ya kantongnya. karena biaya perawatannya yang muahal. Adakah cara untuk menghindari penyakit ini? Ato setidaknya anak turun kita bisa bebas dari si cantik Thalasemia? Mungkin artikel berikut bisa mewakilinya. Diambil dari Kompas, jum'at 2 Juni 2006.

Di Indonesia, tidak banyak orang yang paham apa yang dimaksud dengan penyakit thalasemia mayor. Padahal, di antara kita ada ratusan ribu orang-orang pembawa sifat thalasemia yang bisa diturunkan kepada anak-anak mereka.
Biaya yang harus ditanggung untuk pengobatan thalasemia pun sangat fantastis. Jika 5.000-an penderita thalasemia mendapatkan perawatan memadai, biaya yang harus dikeluarkan mencapai Rp 1,25 triliun per tahun.
Menurut perhitungan, seorang pasien penderita thalasemia memerlukan biaya untuk perawatan sebesar Rp 250 juta per tahun. Ini untuk biaya transfusi darah, peralatan, perawatan, obat desferal, dan keperluan lain, seperti menyewa/membeli alat pompa infus. Angka tersebut di luar biaya dokter.
Kenyataan yang memprihatinkan, dari 5.000-an penderita thalasemia mayor, 85 persen umumnya berasal dari keluarga miskin. Karena keterbatasan biaya, maka mereka terpaksa menjalani pengobatan secara tidak maksimal. Suntikan desferal yang idealnya diberikan 20 hari, hanya bisa 5-10 hari. Dengan realitas seperti ini, sampai umur berapakah anak-anak penderita thalasemia bisa bertahan?
Ketua Pusat Thalasemia Indonesia Prof Dr Iskandar Wahidijat SpA(K) memaparkan, thalasemia adalah suatu penyakit genetik/keturunan yang diturunkan dari kedua orangtua. Kedua orangtua secara klinis sehat, tetapi karena keduanya sebagai pembawa sifat dan kebetulan gen yang buruk bertemu pada satu anak, maka ini yang disebut thalasemia mayor.
Yang menjadi masalah adalah ketika si anak menerima gen yang jelek dari ibu dan ayah. Ini yang berat. Tidak jarang belum berusia satu tahun sudah harus ditransfusi. Hidupnya bergantung pada transfusi darah karena umur sel darah merahnya tidak panjang.
Sel darah merah pada orang normal umurnya tiga-empat bulan. Namun, pada penderita thalasemia, hanya satu-dua bulan sel darah merahnya sudah hancur. Ini yang disebut anemia. Thalasemia mayor adalah suatu jenis anemia yang berbeda, disebabkan karena tidak cukupnya hemoglobin.
Harus transfusi
Hampir semua penyakit genetik/keturunan sampai sekarang belum ada obatnya. Obatnya adalah transfusi darah. Ironinya, pasien thalasemia justru meninggal karena transfusi, seperti kelebihan zat besi dan penyakit yang didapat dari donor (hepatitis B, hepatitis C, dan HIV).
Dampak lain transfusi adalah penimbunan zat besi. Akumulasi zat besi merupakan konsekuensi yang tidak dapat dihindari dari transfusi darah dan dapat mengancam nyawa, dapat menyebabkan kerusakan hati, jantung, dan kelenjar hormon.
Tubuh tidak memiliki mekanisme alami untuk membuang kelebihan zat besi sehingga proses pengikatan zat besi digunakan sebagai pengobatan yang efektif untuk kelebihan zat besi. Pada proses pengikatan zat besi, obat mengikat zat besi yang terdapat pada tubuh dan jaringan serta dapat membantu membuangnya melalui urine atau kotoran. Sejak tahun 1985 telah digunakan desferal (deferoxamine), yang diberikan melalui infus dengan pompa yang harganya 350 dollar AS per pompa.
Pemakaian pompa suntik ini menyakitkan bagi anak-anak. Bagian tubuh yang diinfus menjadi nyeri dan bengkak sehingga mengurangi tingkat kepatuhan berobat. Ini jelas membahayakan mereka jika tidak rutin melakukan kelasi/mengeluarkan timbunan zat besi.
Novartis, produsen desferal pun mengembangkan riset dan menemukan pengobatan oral untuk mengikat zat besi dalam tubuh dengan diminum sekali sehari, yakni deferasirox (nama generik), yang 20 Mei lalu diluncurkan di Bangkok, Thailand, untuk kawasan Asia Pasifik. Di Indonesia, produk ini akan diluncurkan awal Juni 2006.
Dengan obat baru ini, biaya perawatan pasien thalasemia bisa lebih ditekan karena tidak perlu lagi menggunakan pompa infus yang mahal harganya. Namun, tetap harus diwaspadai efek sampingnya, seperti mual.
"Kalau obat baru ini bisa di-cover oleh Askes, maka akan sangat membantu pasien yang miskin, apalagi lebih murah dari desferal," kata Prof Iskandar Wahidijat. Menanggapi harapan Prof Iskandar, dr Rosa Ch Ginting Betr Med MHP, Kepala Divisi Pelayanan Kesehatan Askes Sosial, menyatakan, pihak Askes akan menilai dulu efektivitas dan keamanan obat itu.
Pencegahan
Penyakit thalasemia bisa menyebar ke segala aspek. Ke liver, hati, jantung, dan organ tubuh lainnya. Perlu banyak biaya untuk menanganinya. Jadi, yang paling penting adalah pencegahan. Kalau pemerintah melaksanakan pencegahan, biaya yang harus dikeluarkan akan sangat berkurang. Contohnya di Yunani, Italia, Siprus, dan Turki. Dengan mencegah kelahiran anak thalasemia mayor, uang yang dihemat luar biasa besarnya.
Oleh karena itu, Pemerintah Indonesia harus punya program pencegahan. Di Siprus, mereka berupaya menurunkan angka kelahiran anak-anak dengan thalasemia mayor hampir 90 persen. Pemerintah pun bisa melakukan screening atau pemeriksaan darah seperti saat mengambil SIM. Dengan begitu, masing-masing bisa mengetahui apakah kita pembawa sifat thalasemia atau bukan. Dengan mengetahui kondisi kita, orang-orang pembawa sifat thalasemia bisa menghindari pernikahan dengan sesama pembawa sifat untuk menghindari kelahirkan anak-anak dengan thalasemia mayor.
"Tentu kita tidak bisa melarang pernikahan sesama pembawa sifat, silakan saja menikah. Di Siprus, yang beragama Ortodox Yunani, saat mereka akan menikah, gereja selalu menanyakan: apakah kamu sudah diperiksa thalasemia? Jika belum, mereka harus memeriksakan diri terlebih dahulu," tutur Prof Iskandar.
Jika keduanya ternyata pembawa sifat, tetap diperbolehkan menikah. Akan tetapi, saat si istri hamil, pada kehamilan 10 minggu dia harus memeriksakan diri ke pusat thalasemia untuk diperiksa apakah si janin thalasemia mayor atau tidak.
Pasangan sesama pembawa sifat kemungkinan melahirkan anak yang menderita thalasemia mayor sebanyak 25 persen, anak yang normal 25 persen, dan anak-anak yang menjadi pembawa sifat 50 persen. Di Siprus, jika ternyata si janin menderita thalasemia mayor, pusat thalasemia akan memberikan pemahaman risiko seperti apa yang harus ditanggung orangtua, termasuk soal tingginya biaya yang diperlukan, mengingat seumur hidup anak itu memerlukan transfusi darah. Bagi orangtua yang tidak siap memiliki anak thalasemia mayor, ada pilihan menghentikan kehamilan. Pencegahan seperti itulah yang dilakukan negara-negara tersebut.
Di Indonesia, pemerintah belum melihat persoalan thalasemia dan masih sibuk dengan kasus-kasus infeksi. "Jadi, kalau bisa kita cegah. Jangan menambah pasien thalasemia mayor. Bayangkan, saya pernah ketemu seorang ibu yang empat anaknya jadi pasien saya. Ibu itu tahu empat anaknya akan meninggal. Bagaimana perasaannya? Ada lagi yang anaknya 11 orang, lima di antaranya thalasemia mayor. Bayangkan...," kata Prof Iskandar Wahidijat. (LOK)

End users -- god bless ‘em. You can’t live with ‘em -- but without them, you wouldn’t have a job. They’re the reason you have an IT infrastructure; they’re also the single greatest threat to the security of that infrastructure. Because, in the end, most users have no idea how dangerous their online behavior is.

If your end users only knew how much damage they could cause when they - well, maybe you should send them this article.

No matter how many times they train them, no matter how many classes they hold, most IT professionals still watch helplessly as end users introduce new malware because they "just couldn’t resist looking at the attachment." Security pros cringe as their users download software for personal use, turn off firewalls to speed up a connection, or leave their passwords stuck to their laptops.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could give end users a list of the most dangerous things they do online every day, and then tell them why those activities are particularly risky?

We thought so, too. The following is our list of "The Ten Most Dangerous Things Users Do Online," along with some explanation of the risks -- and solutions -- associated with each. This list was generated directly from input we’ve received from IT people like you, and is arranged in descending order of danger, based on votes received from the experts and analysts who make up Dark Reading’s editorial advisory board.

Stick this up on the door to your office. Better yet, stick it up on the company bulletin board -- or post it directly to each of your users. If it keeps one user from making a big mistake, then we’ll have done our job -- and so will you.

1. Clicking on email attachments from unknown senders

We know, we know. Haven’t we beaten this one to death already? With all the computer training courses, news reports, magazine articles, and memos from the IT department, are there any users left out there who don’t know they aren’t supposed to open email attachments from strangers?

Apparently, there are. IT managers, consultants, and other experts maintain that of all the dangerous things corporate end users do, opening email attachments is still the most potentially damaging. Even with today’s new range of exploits, email attachments are still the most likely means of contracting viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other infections. And because these attachments usually contain applications or executable files, they have the greatest potential to instigate the complete takeover -- or destruction -- of an enterprise PC.

But shouldn’t end users know this by now? An August survey by security software vendor Finjan offers an interesting perspective. In a straw poll of 142 U.K. office workers, Finjan found that 93 percent of respondents knew that attachments and links found in email messages could contain spyware or other forms of malicious code embedded in them.

The problem isn’t that users don’t know the risks -- it’s that they can’t help themselves, Finjan said. In the survey, 86 percent of the workers admitted they open attachments and click on links without being sure if it’s safe to do so. And despite frequent warnings, 76 percent of those surveyed said they routinely open what they assume to be viral marketing files, such as funny videos, jokes, or Websites.

"It’s still the most dangerous thing end users do," says Richard Stiennon, founder of IT-Harvest, an IT consulting firm.

2. Installing unauthorized applications

What do you mean, "no IM?"

If you're like many organizations today, prohibiting instant messaging is out of the question. IM is rapidly becoming a standard corporate communication tool, even as the number of IM exploits rises. Like any other peer-to-peer application, instant messaging comes with some serious risks, but once your users are hooked on IM, they are hooked.

"IM is too useful to completely restrict. If you try to lock it down, but don't provide any outlet for employees to stay in touch with the outside world, users will find a way around your security policy," says Thomas Ptacek, a researcher with Matasano Security. "It's 2006. Your users are going to use IM."

IM isn't the only peer-to-peer app your users may be installing on their desktops. There's Kazaa and other free file-sharing utilities that let users share documents, software, and music. But this freedom has its cost. "These applications can increasingly be the source of new viruses," says Rob Enderle, principal analyst with the Enderle Group, an IT consultancy.

And like other unauthorized or unregulated communication, P2P apps create the risk of bad stuff coming in and sensitive corporate or personal stuff going out.

It's safest to standardize on one of the popular IM platforms, such as AIM and MSN, for instance, says Ptacek. "The only question is whether you're going to be able to monitor and control it or not."

The best defense is to ensure users have only user -- not admin -- privileges on their machines, says Daniel Peck, a security researcher with SecureWorks. And have a written corporate policy about what users can and can't do with these apps.

"And never install programs unless you know what they do, whether they are 'comm' programs or otherwise," says Gary McGraw, CTO of Cigital.

Your desktop firewalls can block specific ports, for instance, and a host-based IPS can also help you lock down your desktops. "But that's not foolproof," warns Peck. If your organization can't live without instant messaging, you can require IM sessions to be encrypted, he says.

3. Turning off or disabling automated security tools

It still happens: A user, frustrated by the slow performance of an ISP link or the constant exclusion of specific types of files, finds a way to turn off the firewall on his remote PC -- or even at a branch office. Then, as if that’s not bad enough, he "forgets" to turn the firewall back on, leaving that site open to all sorts of attacks until someone from IT finally recognizes the problem and reactivates the barrier.

And it isn’t just firewalls: Every day, users reschedule automated virus updates, remote security patch installations, or requests to change their passwords. Security stuff, they say, is an administrative hassle and keeps them from doing their "important" work.

The disabling of carefully-evaluated, state-of-the-art security technology might be the most dangerous thing that users regularly do, according to the Enderle Group's Enderle. "This is what keeps many of us [IT and security professionals] up at night," he says. "Security applications take some overhead and may lower performance [of the end station]. Folks will turn them off as a result."

Cigital's McGraw agrees. "Sometimes you just have to postpone the old monolithic virus scan so you can get some work done," he notes. "There's always a tradeoff -- make sure you make the right one."

Most enterprise firewalls and antivirus applications now contain configuration options that enable IT to eliminate the "turn it off" option from the user’s desktop, McGraw observes. In many cases, it may be better to force the user to accept a patch or a slow ISP connection -- and deal with the complaints -- than to leave the company’s systems open to remote attack, experts say.

4. Opening HTML or plain-text messages from unknown senders

While most end users today are aware, if not respectful, of the dangers associated with opening email attachments from strangers, many are not aware of the threats that may lie in a normal, everyday text or HTML message that contains no enclosure. Most of these users are those who have not updated their computer training lately, and still labor under the illusion that only email attachments can contain malware.

Many experts now believe that HTML mail poses a threat that may eventually be as serious as the traditional email attachment. HTML text -- and increasingly, images -- can be infected with spyware, and in some cases, executable code. In July, experts at iDefense Labs, the security research arm of Verisign, discovered a new, relatively simple method of embedding shell code into commonly-loaded Web images, such as computer graphics, online photos, or PDF documents. HTML files may contain Java Scripts, ActiveX controls, or macros that can allow an attacker to gain control of a PC or turn into a botnet zombie, noted Finjan, in a White Paper issued last month. "The vast majority of Web pages contain one or more types of active content, with an unmistakable trend toward increasing use of active content in Web pages," the company said.

In a study of the Web surfing habits of some 15,000 business users, Finjan found that about 6.9 percent of HTML traffic contained at least one content type that violated the security policy of the enterprise involved. Studies such as these have caused some enterprises to restrict the use of HTML email, or even disallow it altogether.

"There is plenty of active-content spam out there, and phishers use it, too," says Cigital's McGraw. "When in doubt, delete it without looking at it. If it's important, real mail, the sender will try again -- or maybe even pick up the phone."

5. Surfing gambling, porn, or other legally-risky sites

One of the oldest abuses of corporate Internet links, the downloading of porn, gambling and other objectionable data is another still-popular activity that falls into the "I thought we had that fixed" category.

Most companies today have established that such content, even when technically legal for consumers, could create a hostile working environment for employees, subjecting the company to legal or punitive action. Any human resources department will tell you that these pursuits are a major no-no, and most IT professionals will tell you that they have deployed some sort of content filter to restrict access to objectionable content.

However, the problem still runs rampant in some organizations. In fact, an investigation of the U.S. Department of the Interior published last month turned up some alarming data regarding the online surfing habits of its 80,000 employees.

In a study of one week’s worth of computer logs, the U.S. Office of the Inspector General (OIG) discovered over one million log entries in which 7,763 DOI computer users spent more than 2,004 hours accessing game and auction sites. Extrapolated over the course of a year, these shopping and gaming binges could account for 104,221 hours of lost productivity -- more than $2,027,887 in lost costs, the OIG said.

The OIG found that a significant number of employees were accessing pornographic sites, many for periods of 30 minutes to an hour. Four employees were found to have downloaded egregious volumes of pornography, including child pornography, and each was prosecuted and sentenced for anywhere from 10 months to eight years in jail.

The DOI had implemented Website monitoring and blocking software, but users were still able to get around it, the OIG said. In a final spot check of the DOI systems in August, OIG investigators were able to access both pornographic and gambling sites on three of the department’s four main computer systems, despite the presence of content filtering and blocking tools.

Online gambling and pornographic sites also are "becoming a frequent source of infection via drive-by downloads and zero-day exploits," observes Richard Stiennon, president of IT-Harvest.

6. Giving out passwords, tokens, or smart cards

The password problem is as old as computers themselves. Despite years of trying, however, no one has come up with a workable solution.

In a study published just this week by global research firms Nucleus Research and KnowledgeStorm, companies’ attempts to tighten IT security by regularly changing and increasing the complexity of passwords is having no impact on security.

Despite years of IT warnings to the contrary, about one in three people still write down their computer passwords somewhere near the machine, either on a piece of paper or in a text file on a PC or mobile device, the researchers said.

"This is really a lot like Mom and Dad buying a great new security system for the house, and Junior leaving the combination under the doormat," said David O’Connell, senior analyst at Nucleus Research, in a published interview. "Passwords are high maintenance. People forget them, people lose them, they have to be reset."

Some experts also say that employees can be too trusting of acquaintances, colleagues, and family members who may "borrow" their passwords or authentication tokens, exposing them even more broadly to loss or theft. This is a particular risk among telecommuters or road warriors who may give out their passwords to help a friend or relative. "You might trust the employee, but you have to draw the line at friends and family," says one expert.

The researchers at Nucleus Research and KnowledgeStorm suggested that enterprises should look to increasingly improving authentication technologies, such as single sign-on and biometrics, as potential answers to the age-old problem of password management. Online payment vendors Pay By Touch and UPEK earlier this month unveiled a finger-sensor payment service, TrueMe, which lets users access account information through a biometric fingerprint scanner.

7. Random surfing of unknown, untrusted Websites

Browser-based vulnerabilities are becoming one of the most popular targets of attackers on the Web. Just ask Microsoft and Mozilla, which have been busy patching new vulnerabilities the past few months. If your organization gives users free reign to surf the Web during or after business hours from the corporate network, beware.

In addition to the well-documented cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities floating around, there's also a lot of adware and spyware. You shouldn't put it past that 20-something intern to download some free music, for instance, and inadvertently contract some malware as a result.

Even if your corporate policy restricts Web access, the 20-somethings may not honor it. "This is something that young employees, bored security guards, and interns are more likely to do," says the Enderle Group's Enderle. "It's an attractive nuisance, and one of the reasons for a proxy server."

Internet Explorer 7.0, which was released by Microsoft yesterday, and the new upcoming Firefox 2.0 are expected to help browser security -- at least until attackers start cracking them. But that may be wishful thinking: IE7's first bug was reported just hours after it went live last night, although Microsoft says the issue is a component in Outlook Express rather than in IE7.

"Attackers have started to compromise enterprises through the use of browser-based and other client-side vulnerabilities," says David Goldsmith, president of Matasano Security. "This also applies to home users who are becoming increasingly more security-savvy. Hopefully, the releases of Internet Explorer 7.0 and Firefox 2.0 will make it even more challenging for attackers to compromise the browser."

So if you're going to restrict Web access, how do you determine what sites you can trust or not? "If you're really paranoid, surf with active content disabled, use Opera or Firefox, and run your browser with very little permission," says Cigital's McGraw.

8. Attaching to an unknown, untrustworthy WiFi network

There's nothing more soothing than a good cup of java (lower-case) and a free WiFi connection at your local coffee shop. But watch that guy at the booth next door -- he may be hacking into your laptop over that very same WiFi link.

Your users are even more at risk if their wireless card uses the Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), which is notoriously simple to hack. A hacker can use a sniffer and grab your corporate user name and password, for instance, or infect you with a worm, says Daniel Peck, a security researcher with SecureWorks.

Even if they're only sipping coffee and working offline, an attacker could use your employee's wireless card to access his machine -- and eventually, your corporate network.

It's tempting for a user on the road to jump on the closest WiFi connection they pick up while waiting at the airport or some other public place. "There is no way of ensuring that the networks they connect to aren't run by a malicious attacker," says Matasano Security's Goldsmith. "While the unsuspecting user surfs the Web, an attacker could be using a man-in-the-middle attack to monitor their traffic -- or even worse, use a client side attack toolkit to compromise their machine."

A personal firewall can help, says the Enderle Group's Enderle -- as long as your users keep it turned on, that is.

"Attach away. Just tunnel through with SSH or a VPN client," says Cigital's McGraw. "Also be aware of low-level attacks, and don't do anything too sensitive."

But the only way to ensure that your users won't get hacked via WiFi is to have them disable their wireless card altogether while they work from public places, says Matasano Security's Ptacek. "The safest reasonable attitude right now is that even browsing available wireless networks is risky."

9. Filling out Web scripts, forms, or registration pages

If your users could actually see a hacker looking over their shoulder as they logged onto a Website or typed sensitive data into a registration page, maybe then they would think twice. But since keyloggers and XSS don't have a human face, you'd better hope your users are hanging out on SSL-secured sites -- and know just what constitutes sensitive corporate data.

"Most Websites handling sensitive info use SSL to protect the data in transit -- check for that," says Cigital's McGraw.

Users are more likely to get hacked if they use the same username and password for most every site they visit -- a habit that puts their personal data in jeopardy, as well as the company's.

And even a trusted site can have an XSS exploit embedded in it. All it takes is for a user to read a message on a bulletin board post that contains malware, and an attacker could gain control of the user's browser session.

Remote sessions should be encrypted using SSL. But SSL isn't foolproof -- it has its own litany of problems and weaknesses, such as its susceptibility to man-in-the-middle attacks and keystroke loggers. "SSL has had some issues, but it's the best thing out there," says SecureWorks' Peck.

But the bottom line is that consumers are more likely to enter sensitive data into Web scripts or registration pages than enterprise users, says the Enderle Group's Enderle. "Employees seldom have the opportunity to do this," he says. "Of course, we probably don't know about it when they do, suggesting this problem could be vastly worse than it looks."

10. Participating in chat rooms or social networking sites

The very same parents who frantically try to keep their kids off of MySpace are now flocking to business social networking sites like LinkedIn, either from home or at the office. They join a colleague's "network" on LinkedIn, post messages, and maintain their own presence on the site. That's much safer than MySpace, because it's just like a professional organization, right?

Wrong. Social networking sites are a social engineer's dream come true.

"The biggest security challenges businesses face with business social networking like LinkedIn is the sheer amount of information that a social engineer can learn by doing simple searches," says Matasano Security's Goldsmith. "Attackers can find out who your business partners, vendors, and clients are simply by viewing your shared connections."

There's simply no way for LinkedIn and other sites to validate a member's employment record, so an attacker can claim to work at Matasano and find out which current and past employees are on the site. "Services like LinkedIn try to guard sensitive employment information by restricting it to colleagues --- you have to have worked with Dave Goldsmith before to be able to click on him and see his work history, or have him come up in a search for 'Matasano,'" says Matasano's Ptacek. "But anyone can sign up to LinkedIn and claim to have worked for Matasano."

Users can also inadvertently leak sensitive company data in a message board post with a buddy, for instance. It may reach eyes for which it wasn't intended, or they may not realize that chatting about what they're doing at work today may lead to a corporate data breach. "It's different than having drinks with a buddy after work," says SecureWorks' Peck.

Aside from a chatty user, a browser can also be a weak link. "ActiveX controls and their browser can be used by an attacker to get into the corporate network," Peck says. "There are a lot of Web app vulnerabilities we've seen."

Even if you have a "closed circle," that doesn't mean you don't touch the outside world. Just clicking onto the site of a buddy's buddy can get you into security trouble. "Every subpage you go to in LinkedIn or MySpace is like going to a whole different Website," Peck says. "It's most risky when you're going to the sites of people you don't know."

Aside from the social engineering threat, there's also the very real threat of getting infected with XSS, keyloggers, worms, and spyware (just ask MySpace users). "There's going to be vulnerabilities in the software," Peck says.

If an enterprise allows access to social networking sites, it must ensure that users are wary of who they're communicating with and what type of sensitive information they may be exposing. The bad news is you may not know until it's too late.

"You should assume that anything you post to a social networking site is public," says Matasano's Ptacek.

Setelah 2 minggu mencari2 cara untuk men-convert 56 ribuan gambar logo yang ber-extensi EPS menjadi JPG/GIF, akhirnya kemarin dapat software-nya.
Sudah ada 5an software yang didownload dan dicoba, rata-rata versi EPS-nya tidak sesuai jadi tidak bisa dibuka. dibuka aja tidak bisa apalagi di convert :).
Ada satu sih yang bisa jalan, hanya saja hasil convert-nya ada tulisan 'unregistered' . Tapi akhirnya ketemu juga software yg pas. Lebih seneng lagi karena softwarenya free, jadi tidak menambah 'dosa' dengan nge-crack. Ya, nama softwarenya adalah IrfanView.

Sebenernya duluuu sekali saat kuliah pernah pake sebentar ini sotware, tapi akhirnya tergantikan ACDSee. Tak pikir kok namanya IrfanView.. paling ini buatan orang Indonesia yang namanya Irfan, paling tidak begitu bagus pikir saya.. ehh ternyata sekarang sudah berkembang terus fitur-fiturnya jadi bisa menyaingi ACDSee yang tidak free. Termasuk didalamnya adalah fitur yang saya perlukan. Yaitu mengkonvert file gambar secara batch, dalam jumlah banyak sekaligus. Kalo gak sekaligus bisa cuuaaapeeekk sekali menkonvert satu persatu sampai 56 ribu kali.

Kalau ada yang tanya apa sih file yang jumlahnya 56 ribu tadi? jawabnya adalah kumpulan logo-logo perusahaan atau merk-merk dunia. Buat apa? Gak tahu buat apa, cuman siapa tahu ada yang butuh, mungkin untuk referensi bikin logo sendiri kali. Yang jelas hasilnya bisa dilihat di www.mixedforyou.com/logo.

Sembelit Pada Bayi

Susah buang air besar ternyata bukan monopoli orang dewasa. Bayi atau anak yang mulai belajar berjalan pun kerap mengalami sembelit. Hal ini tentu membuat orang tua khawatir, seperti yang dirasakan Kurniawan. Bagaimana jika hal itu terjadi pada bayi Anda, apa yang akan Anda lakukan? Jangan buru-buru panik. Meski begitu, gangguan konstipasi ini tentu harus segera diatasi.

Seringkali ada bayi yang belum diberi asupan makanan padat, tapi sudah mengalami gangguan susah buang air besar. Gangguan ini lebih kerap dialami oleh bayi yang diberi susu formula. Bayi yang mendapatkan ASI (Air Susu Ibu) lebih jarang mengalami gangguan ini karena air susu ibu lebih mudah dicerna ketimbang susu formula.

Pada bayi yang diberi susu formula, sembelit yang terjadi mungkin saja karena jenis susu botol yang diminumnya. Susu yang mengandung zat besi terlalu tinggi, bisa membuat si kecil mengalami sembelit (konstipasi). Maka, coba perhatikan susu si kecil. Bila memang kandungan zat besinya terlalu tinggi, mungkin Anda bisa menggantikan dengan susu yang lain. Tapi alangkah baiknya, sebelum mengganti susu, Anda berkonsultasi terlebih dulu dengan dokter anak.

Marla Stern, seorang dokter spesialis anak yang tinggal di New York, punya tips untuk mengatasi gangguan pada bayi yang mengalami sembelit. Ia menganjurkan agar si bayi yang mengalami sembelit diberi cairan yang terbuat dari campuran brown sugar dengan susu formula atau air. Caranya, kata dia, satu sendok teh brown sugar dicampur dengan dua ons susu formula atau air. ''Larutan ini sangat aman dan efektif untuk melembekkan tinja,'' katanya.

Sembelit juga kerap dialami oleh anak yang mulai belajar jalan. Berbeda dengan bayi, anak usia ini tak lagi hanya minum susu, tapi juga mengonsumsi makanan padat. Mark R Corkins, seorang dokter spesialis anak di Indianapolis mengungkapkan, konstipasi merupakan sesuatu yang biasa terjadi pada anak yang sudah mulai berganti asupan. ''Perubahan pada pola makan anak-anak, cenderung akan mengubah fesesnya,'' katanya.

Untuk memastikan tak ada sesuatu yang serius pada si kecil, maka sebaiknya Anda membawanya ke dokter anak. Bila dokter menyatakan tak ada gangguan serius, maka hal pertama yang perlu Anda lakukan adalah mencoba mengganti asupan makanan buat si buah hati.

Makanan untuk mengatasi gangguan sembelit

Untuk mengatasi gangguan sembelit pada anak yang sudah mulai belajar berjalan, orang tua perlu memberi asupan berupa makanan kaya serat seperti sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan seperti pepaya dan melon. Jika Anda memiliki buah plum, bagus juga diberikan untuk si kecil yang tengah sembelit.

Asupan cairan juga perlu ditingkatkan. Minuman itu ada baiknya diberikan secara rutin setiap hari dan disesuaikan dengan usia anak.

Buah pir juga bisa Anda manfaatkan. Setidaknya, khasiat buah ini pernah dirasakan oleh Jilian Ford, ibu muda dari California, ketika anaknya yang berusia tiga bulan susah buang air besar. ''Saya beri dia satu sendok teh jus buah pir yang dicampur dengan dua ons air. Beberapa jam kemudian, ia bisa buang air besar. Tentu saja, saya lega bukan main.''

Namun, hati-hati dengan pisang. Untuk sementara, sebaiknya Anda tak memberinya pisang, sebab buah ini bisa mengeraskan feses sehingga tentu saja sembelit anak Anda akan makin parah.

Merawat anak yang mengalami sembelit

Sembelit pada anak di usia ini akan ditandai dengan mengerasnya feses. Biasanya, si kecil akan rewel karena perutnya terasa sakit. Selain itu, anak pun akan merasa sakit saat buang air besar. Darah terang di tinja dapat menyertai hal ini, yang menandakan luka di sekitar anus yang sedikit berdarah. Bila sudah begitu, tak sedikit anak yang menjadi takut untuk buang air besar. Padahal, menahan-nahan buang air besar juga tidak baik. Sebab, feses bisa terus menumpuk di dalam usus.

Langkah pertama dalam merawat ini adalah melunakkan tinja dengan memberi bayi jus prem, prem, atau sedikit gula asli. Berikutnya, anus, harus dilapisi jeli petroleum dua atau tiga kali sehari. Bila tidak sembuh, bayi harus dibawa ke dokter.

Apa itu sembelit?
Sembelit atau konstipasi adalah keadaan kesulitan buang air besar. Kesulitan tersebut dapat disebabkan karena kerasnya feses yang harus dikeluarkan. Feses yang mengeras sulit untuk dikeluarkan sehingga kadang-kadang menyebabkan lubang anus luka dan mengalami perdarahan.

Normalnya buang air besar dilakukan setiap hari. Namun, ketika seseorang mengalami sembelit, buang air besar dilakukan dalam waktu 3-4 hari menyebabkan feses mengeras dan susah dikeluarkan. Penderita yang sembelit biasanya juga perutnya merasa kembung, penuh atau begah dan tidak nafsu makan.

Dalam proses pencernaan, makanan yang masuk ke tubuh akan dicerna menjadi sari-sari makanan yang akan diserap oleh jaringan dalam tubuh, sedangkan ampasnya dikeluarkan dalam bentuk feses ketika buang air besar.

Sembelit bukanlah penyakit tetapi hanya sebuah tanda penyakit (gejala). Orang yang mengalami gangguan ini biasanya akan merasa sakit di perut dan mengalami angin (sendawa dan kentut). Yang paling banyak terkena sembelit adalah perempuan, anak kecil, dan orang tua yang usianya di atas 65 tahun.

Frekwensi BAB dan jenis makanan
Frekuensi buang air besar ditentukan oleh jenis dan jumlah makanan. Jenis makanan yang kaya akan serat seperti sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan akan merangsang gerakan peristaltik usus secara optimal, sehingga proses pengeluaran ampas makanan (feses) berjalan dengan lancar. Jika tubuh kekurangan makanan berserat, maka proses pengeluaran feses menjadi tidak lancar dan terjadilah sembelit.
Jumlah makanan juga menentukan frekuensi buang air besar. Jika orang tidak makan atau makan sangat sedikit, maka feses yang dikeluarkan pun menjadi terlalu sedikit untuk dikeluarkan setiap hari.

Penyebab sembelit

Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya sembelit adalah:

pola makan yang tidak seimbang, seperti kurangnya makanan berserat (sayuran, buah-buahan, kacang-kacangan, beras tumbuk, agar-agar, dan lain-lain).
kurangnya cairan yang menyebabkan feses tidak lunak bahkan mengeras seperti batu
Kebiasaan menunda buang air besar, hal ini menyebabkan keinginan buang besar lama-lama menjadi hilang.
Kurang aktivitas gerak dan pekerjaan yang menuntut duduk terlalu lama. Hal tersebut menyebabkan usus besar kurang bekerja sehingga feses sulit turun
gangguan mekanis pada usus seperti kanker, radang dinding usus, usus yang menonjol keluar dan lain-lain. Gangguan pada saluran pencernaan tersebut tersebut menyebabkan proses pencernaan juga terganggu, sehingga buang air besar menjadi tidak lancar dan tidak teratur.

Waspada terhadap sembelit

Sembelit bukan merupakan suatu penyakit melainkan gejala gangguan metabolisme tubuh. Walaupun bukan gangguan yang serius, sembelit juga harus diwaspadai terutama apabila berkepanjangan. Sembelit yang terus-menerus menimbulkan kebiasaan mengedan ketika buang air besar. Hal itu dapat menyebabkan pelebaran pembuluh darah pada anus dan selanjuutnya terjadi pembengkakan dan akhirnya timbul tonjolan keluar anus, sehingga terjadilah wasir (hemorrhoid). Wasir memerlukan penanganan yang lebih serius dari sembelit, karena masalahnya lebih kompleks. Tidak hanya kesulitan buang air besar, tetapi telah terjadi tonjolan keluar anus yang menimbulkan kondisi tidak nyaman dan menyakitkan.

Sembelit yang berkepanjangan juga dapat memicu terjadinya tumor di usus, karena zat-zat dan kotoran yang merugikan yang seharusnya dikeluarkan terlalu lama mengendap di usus, sehingga akan menjadi toksik/racun yang memicu sel kanker atau bersifat karsinogen.

Oleh karena itu jangan biarkan sembelit menjadi pemicu penyakit yang lebih serius seperti wasir dan tumor usus. Untuk mencegahnya, gaya hidup sehat dengan pola makan yang seimbang harus diterapkan.

Mencegah sembelit

Berikut beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan untuk mencegah sembelit

Mengkonsumsi makanan yang kaya akan serat seperti buah-buahan dan sayur-sayuran. Serat bekerja menghisap air sehingga feses menjadi lunak dan mudah dikeluarkan, serat juga dapat membantu mengeluarkan kolesterol dari usus.
Minumlah air minimal 2 liter sehari. Air sangat membantu proses pencernaan makanan yaitu melunakkan dan melarutkan makanan yang larut dalam air, sehingga sari-sari makanan mudah terserap dan ampas makanan (feses) tidak mengeras.
Biasakan BAB setiap hari. Kalau rutin, kemungkinan sembelit akan bisa dikurangi.
Kurangi minum kopi atau minuman ringan yang mengandung kafein
Bayi yang minum susu kaleng biasanya fesesnya mengeras. Untuk melunakkannya perlu diberi makanan buah-buahan dan sayuran.
Jangan menunda buang air besar, biasakan buang air besar setiap hari,
Melakukan gerak tubuh seperti berolahraga agar dapat memperlancar metabolisme dalam tubuh.
Jangan duduk terlalu lama sepanjang hari, selingi dengan berjalan-jalan.
Daerah seputar anus juga perlu untuk dirawat secara teratur, khususnya pada bayi atau anak. Caranya dengan memberikan krem khusus untuk memberikan rasa sejuk.
Posisi pada saat BAB juga perlu diperhatikan. Sebaiknya pilih posisi yang bisa membantu mempermudah BAB. Caranya dengan menekuk paha ke arah perut sehingga menaikkan tekanan dalam rongga perut.

Mengatasi sembelit

Apabila terjadi sembelit, berikut beberapa tip :

Pada bayi : sabun dipotong berbentuk jari dengan garis tengah 2-3 mm, lalu dibasahi dan dimasukkan ke liang anus bayi. Biasanya dalam waktu beberapa menit, bayi akan buang air besar.
Pada orang dewasa : sabun dipotong sebesar kelingking lalu dimasukkan ke liang anus.

Bahan -bahan alami yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mengatasi sembelit mempunyai efek sebagai pencahar (laxatif). Berikut adalah resep dari Prof. DR Hembing. Salah satu resep di dibawah ini dapat dipilih dan dilakukan secara teratur. Untuk perebusan gunakan periuk tanah, panci enamel atau panci kaca.

100 gram daun lidah buaya (dikupas kulitnya), diiris kecil-kecil lalu direbus dengan 200 cc air hingga mendidih, tambahkan 1 sendok makan madu, hangat-hangat airnya diminum dan daun lidah buayanya dimakan. Lakukan 2 kali sehari.
30 gram temu lawak (dikupas kulitnya dan diiris-iris) + 30 gram asam jawa + gula aren secukupnya, direbus dengan 400 cc air hingga tersisa 200 cc, disaring, airnya diminum. lakukan 2 kali sehari
100 gram daun ubi jalar direbus dengan air secukupnya atau dibuat sop. Kemudian airnya diminum dalam keadaan hangat dan daunnya dimakan.
Makan 300-400 gram buah pepaya matang setiap hari secara teratur.
200 gram buah nanas setengah matang + 200 gram apel, dijus, tambahkan air jeruk nipis, lalu diminum.
kelembak (dahuang) dihaluskan hingga menjadi bubuk, ambil 1 sendok teh bubuk tersebut (kurang lebih 3 gram), diseduh dengan air panas, diaduk dan diminum setelah hangat. Lakukan 2 kali sehari.

Perempuan Harus Sekolah Setinggi-tingginya

'Untuk apa perempuan sekolah tinggi-tinggi, S1, S2 tapi akhirnya gak kerja, gak berkarya, gak 'menghasilkan', Jadi ibu rumah tangga yang ngendon di rumah. Jadi ibu rumah tangga itu gak perlu sekolah tinggi-tinggi. Cukup SMA, terus kursus-kursus. Rugi biaya.'

Sebagian besar dari kita mungkin pernah mendengar pendapat seperti itu. Bagi saya, perempuan memang harus sekolah setinggi-tingginya. S1, S2, S3...It's OK. Kenapa?? Apa karena saya seorang perempuan? Salah satunya..iya. Karena saya perempuan, maka saya tau dan merasakan, bukan hanya berempati, kendala-kendala yang dihadapi seorang perempuan dalam mendidik anak yang memiliki jaman yang berbeda dengan dirinya. Wuih... panjang skaleee.Gini, lho...

Alasan pertama, seorang ibu harus berwawasan luas untuk anak-anaknya. Saat ini orang tua harus memiliki konsep yang jelas dalam mendidik anak, karena dunia dan teknologi semakin maju. Apakah sisi positifnya atau malah sisi negatifnya. Anak adalah anugrah, titipan Tuhan. Anak lebih utama dari semua lowongan pekerjaan yang ada. Maksudnya??? Naif sekali kalo kita hanya membatasi pendidikan perempuan, seorang ibu rumah tangga penuh, hanya sampai SMA. Padahal yang dia kelola adalah sesuatu yang jika salah dalam mengelola maka species manusia akan punah. Bukan main-main, kan. Sesuatu itu adalah anak. Anak berhak mendapatkan yang terbaik yang bisa diberikan oleh Ayah dan Bunda-nya. Anak yang merupakan anugrah bisa saja menjadi cobaan jika orang tua salah dalam mendidik.

Alasan kedua, biar bisa nyambung kalo ngobrol sama suami. Lha, iya dong...bayangkan kalo suami S3, sementara istri SMA kan ngobrolnya bisa gak nyambung. Entar selingkuh, lagi. Alasan pembenarannya, karena selingkuhannya seorang wanita karir, notabene berpendidiakan tinggi, yang mempunyai lingkungan kerja sama dengan si suami. Wawasannya luas dan kalo ngobrol bisa nyambung. enak diajak diskusi dan berkeluh kesah. Makanya, seorang ibu rumah tangga yang full harus berpendidikan tinggi supaya bisa nyambung dalam berkomunikasi. karena komunikasi sangat penting untuk membina hubungan. Begitu....lho.

Mengapa Tidak Memakai Jasa Pembantu?

Sudah satu tahun lebih saya full menjadi ibu rumah tangga. Real housewife, dalam artian gak bekerja luar rumah sama sekali. 24 jam waktu saya untuk anak-anak dan urusan domistik. Untuk semua itu sengaja saya tidak memakai jasa pembantu RT maupun baby sister. Why not?

Alasan pertama...emh, jaman sekarang ini saya 'kurang' bisa percaya ada 'orang luar' untuk tinggal di rumah. Yah, tau sendiri kan sekarang ini gimana? Penculikan, lah. Perampokan, lah. Bahkan pembunuhan bisa terjadi hanya karena uang RP 500. 'Tanya kenapa?'...Parno ya...paranoid..terserah, lah...nyatanya memang iya. :)

Alasan kedua, saya membatasi kontak antara orang lain anak saya. Maksudnya?? Begini, semakin sedikit jumlah orang yang berinteraksi dengan mereka. Maka semakin kecil kemungkinan mereka untuk sakit. Flu dan batuk bagi orang dewasa adalah penyakit biasa. Tapi bagi balita, sangat menyiksa dan melelahkan... bagi orang tuanya juga. :) Lelah phisik dan phisikis. Oya, satu lagi, lelah materi...Ya, ke dokter kan perlu biaya. Ya dokternya, ya obatnya. Apalagi semua biaya itu gak ditanggung oleh perusahaan tapi dari 'kantong sendiri'. Untuk Ayah sih ada, Askes. Kalo keluarga juga ada tunjangan kesehatan yang diberikan dengan nominal sekian rupiah pertahun. Gak ditanggung penuh. So, pasti gak cukup. Apalagi balita adalah usia rentan sakit. Selain itu, dengan menjaga kondisi balita-balita saya tetap fit, maka mereka gak perlu minum racun-racun yang tentunya punya efek negatif ke organ-organ tubuhnya. Obat kan racun. Racun untuk penyakit, tapi terkadang efek racunnya itu kena juga ke kita yang minum. Ya, intinya seperti di karantpada baby sina begitu. Parno, ya...??

Anak-anak bagi saya adalah anugerah dan titipan dari-Nya. Mereka dititpkan kepada kita, bukan kepada baby sister. :) Mereka harus mendapatkan yang terbaik semampu kita.

Ada yang tanya, apa gak berat ngerawat 2 balita gak pake pembantu?? Ow, sangat berat, tapi bisa dijalankan, kok. Meminjam quote dari Sean connery di film Entrapment, 'impossible but durable'. Yah, meskipun bukan 'impossible', sih. Dulu saya yang saya malah handle 2 balita. Jauh dari sanak sodara juga. Teman saya itu bilang, memang capek sekali, tapi kalo sudah ngliat anak kita tersenyum ataupun bahagia..rasa capeknya jadi hilang. Awalnya saya dengar sambil lalu. Ah, Masak iya. Namanya capek ya capek. Ternyata, memang seperti itu. Rasa capek tergantikan begitu melihat tawa, canda, ekspresi bahagia, peningkatan kemampuan mereka. Apalagi kalo pas melihat mereka bobok...blas, rasa capek itu terbayar.

Membuat component sederhana di Joomla

Project UTS kuliah Tk Internet saya adalah membuat website berbasis joomla untuk program studi baru di Ubaya. Bisa milih salah satu yaitu Sistem Informasi atau multimedia. Mahasiswa harus menambahkan module atau component yang sekiranya cocok untuk dipasang disitu, misalnya componen untuk download dan component untuk foto gallery. Tidak semua component yang tersedia di internet dapat memenuhi kebutuhan web site sebuah jurusan. Misalnya untuk Menu Katalog Tugas Akhir (yang memang saya wajibkan harus ada walaupun mahasiswanya aja belum ada:) ).

Mau tidak mau harus dibuat sendiri. Tapi tidak perlu yang susah-susah, cukup komponen sederhana saja yang :
- tidak berbentuk paket (zip) seperti component yg seharusnya
- tidak punya interface untuk admin
- tidak punya interaksi dengan framework joomla kecuali saat dipanggil saja dalam menu.

Nah untuk membuat seperti ini cukup mudah, caranya yaitu:
- Buat directory baru di directory component. Sesuaikan namanya dengan componen yang akan dibuat, dan awali dengan kata 'com_', misal : com_katalogtugasakhir
- buatlah sebuah file php dengan nama yang sama dengan nama directory diatas, tapi tanpa kata 'com_', misal : katalogtugasakhir.php
- Nah tambahkan kode2 php dalam file php diatas seperti memprogram di php biasanya. Tapi perlu diingat bahwa running directory yang ada dalam file tadi adalah directory utama joomla. Jadi misal kita punya website dengan alamat www/joomla, dan dalam php tadi ada link ke 'images/coverTA.jpg', maka program akan mencari image yang ada di www/joomla/images/coverTA.jpg,bukan di www/joomla/components/com_katalogtugasakhir/images/coverTA.jpg.
- Untuk membuat link ke componen ini, buat menu baru dengan target adalah 'url link'. Isikan nama menunya. Kemudian targetnya diisi index.php?option=com_katalogtugasakhir.

dah, begitu saja sudah bisa jalan seperti layaknya component.

Saya sendiri pernah membuat component untuk kebutuhan Foto gallery, Soalnya component-component yang ada biasanya berupa flash dan foto2nya
tidak dapat di download oleh pengunjung, sudah coba ini itu tidak ada yang cocok juga, akhirnya buat sendiri. component yang saya buat akan
otomatis membuat preview thumbnail dari foto2 yang tersimpan di direktori tertentu dalam folder images.
Jadi tidak perlu pakai manajemen file segala, cukup bikin direktori dan taruh foto2 disitu.
Hasilnya seperti yang terpasang di album foto keluarga.

		The more widespreaded draughts game in English-speaking countries. The rules are the easiest to learn between all draughts games: no capturing priorities and no flying kings
	Russian Draughts
		It is very similar to International Draughts, played on an 8x8 board. The most specific rule is that pawns may start capturing like a king at the moment of the promotion. The give-away version of this game is the very popular and may be also played.
	Turkish Draughts
		This draughts game is very different from the others. Moves are made vertically and horizontally. It is one of the more played draughts games in the world, especially in the Middle East.
	Thai Draughts
		This is the draughts game where the lower amount of pieces is used (every player uses just 8 pawns on a 8x8 board)
	Frisian Draughts
		Practised in some zones of the Netherlands; surprising captures moves are possible
	Breakthrough
		Modern board game. Pieces move very similar to the pawns in chess, and the goal it to reach the last line of the board with any of them
	Epaminondas
		Modern board game. Pieces must cross through the board, moving in a line, up to the opponent first row.
	Reversi
		Well-known board game from England. It is easy to learn; pieces are flipped during the game, alternatively changing the side which owns them
	Chaturanga
		Ancient Indian game, predecessor of chess.
	Oware
		The most popular african mancala game. Players have to be skilful doing calculations to capture the 48 seeds that move around the board.
	Hex
		A very interesting modern connection game. Rules are simple, but strategies may be very complicated
	Quarto
		Modern board game, very easy to learn. The goal is to align four pieces with at least one common characteristic
	Lines of action
		A very interesting modern connection game. Games are short and tend to be much more interesting and intense that it seems at first sight
	Connect 4
		Very popular board game, whose goal is to align 4 pieces on a vertical board
	Go-moku
		Very easy to learn oriental board game; the goal is to align 5 pieces
	Connect6
		Moder board game; every player puts two stones in his turn, and the goal is to align 6 of them

		Strange ancient game from Java Island; the goal is to leave the opponent without pieces through surprising capture moves

		A very interesting connection game played on an hexagonal board; both players decide between two different goals it the first phase of the game

Origin
This is a traditional board game from Java Island; the name of the game comes from the city who was the more important in the island.

Description
The board has six horizontal and six vertical lines. The joints of the four external bars are linked by circular lines as shown in the image.
The two opponents that take part in the game sit opposite each other. Each of them has 12 pieces placed on the joints in the two nearest horizontal lines.

Objective
The purpose of the game is to capture all the opponent´s pieces.

Moves
Each player makes one move by turn.
The pieces have to be moved in any direction (vertically, horzontally or diagonally) between two adjacent joints; the destination joint must be empty. So, pieces are moved like kings in chess.

Capturing
Captures are made by moving a piece along one of the lines and landing on the joint occupied by the captured piece.
During the trip the capturing piece must round at least along one of the eight curves of the board.
The route must be free: the capturing piece cannot jump over any of the pieces placed on the board. Anyway, after rounding some of the curves, the capturing piece may pass during the trip over the previously occupied joint.
